Light Up Blue Ridge has started a new tradition – A Christmas Window Decorating contest!  In all, we had 16 businesses participate.  Our esteemed Judge, Mr. Paul John Kearins of Chocolatasm, said that picking just one winner was difficult given the extremely talented people we are lucky to have in Blue Ridge.  Paul was looking for both general creativity and how well the design fits the overall theme of the store.

WINNER – Design-Refind  at 146 Depot Street

Judge’s Comments: Blue Ridge meets Bloomingdales! A gorgeous “twin-dow”.
The one side, Christmas nostalgia.  The other side, Childhood Christmas magic.

Gatewood Hall Gracious Home – 165 Depot St: A well thought out “Cool and Chic” display. I love the “sharpness” of the color pallette/theme.
Southern Comfort Cabin Rentals –  240 West Main St: Nothing says Christmas like an opulently decorated tree. Very pretty.
Crawford Collections – 500 East Main St #204: Blue Ridge meets The Hamptons in this classy, chic and well planned window.
Blue Ridge Cellars – 500 East Main St #206: This thoughtfully executed display is a literal feast for the eyes… it exudes the rich flavors of the holiday season.
Blue Ridge Cotton Company – 544 East Main St #2: The vibe of this display is a 5th Avenue, White Christmas/Bing Crosby ‘mash-up’. Cool, stylish,hip-retro.
Presents of Mine – 544 East Main St #1 – This display exudes warmth and color… what says Christmas more than named stockings above the fireplace?
Gawdy Bobbles – 624 East Main St: An antique sleigh, a decadently proportioned wreath, tons of wintergreen and twinkling lights…. stunning!
The Vine Wine Bar – 632 East Main St: An endearing Double Feature that offers both town and country atmosphere. The hand carved bears are delightful.

Posh on Main – 721 East Main St: A very Posh display it is too! Love the wintergreen theme and creative use of lighting.
Glitzy Chicks – 723-B East Main St: A duo display that delivers. The Owl theme on one side is very cute, the Reindeer motif on the other side is striking!
Blush 809 – 771-C East Main St: A rich color palette that ties in very nicely with the interior of the store.
Jumping Mouse Beads – 781 East Main St: Very whimsical , I love that all the decorations are handmade, the cute, gloved snowmen showed real creativity.

Cindy Trimble of Design-Refind will proudly display the winning trophy in her store all year long and next year the trophy will be passed on to the new winner.  The big question is: “How many years can she hold on to the trophy?”
